Arantxa Geijo Jiménez serves as Of Counsel to Freeh Sporkin & Sullivan LLP since 2019. She is a Spanish attorney who is an expert in international and criminal law, compliance & regulatory requirements, INTERPOL-related matters, and international human rights law. She practices primarily in Europe, splitting much of her time between Valencia and Dubai.
Arantxa previously served as counsel for the INTERPOL General Secretariat Office of Legal Affairs at their headquarters in Lyon, France, where she focused on complex international criminal arrest warrant requests (Red Notices) and represented INTERPOL in litigation, including challenges by individuals to the issuance of Red Notices against them. After her time at INTERPOL, Arantxa served as Senior Counsel at a boutique law firm in London, where she focused on INTERPOL cases and other public international law matters. Her experience includes serving as an attorney at Baltasar Garzón Abogados, the International Justice Team of Amnesty International – International Secretariat, and the Governance Programme of the Spanish Agency for Development and Cooperation (AECID) in Guatemala.
Arantxa has represented clients before Spanish Courts (First instance, Appeals Court, the High Court, the Supreme Court, and the Constitutional Court in Spain). She also advised clients in cases across the globe, as well as international courts and tribunals, including the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague, and the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the European Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee, the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances and the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances,
Arantxa has successfully represented numerous individuals before the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (an independent structure established to review challenges brought by individuals against whom INTERPOL Red Notices have been issued), restoring their right and freedom to travel internationally.
Arantxa is an associate professor at the International University of La Rioja in Spain, where she teaches international criminal law, and is also an associate professor of Law at the University of Valencia and the Valencia International University. Arantxa has been a member of the Valencia Bar Association since 2003 and currently serves as the President of the International Law Section of the Valencia Bar Association. She is also a member of the International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA), and a member of the Inns of Court (Inner Temple) in the United Kingdom. She is admitted to the List of Counsels of the International Criminal Court.
